Howdy, Eagles!
I'm thrilled to be in my 4th year at GHS, teaching English IV, Student Leadership, advising Student Council, and coaching Men's Soccer. As a 4th year Eagle, this year I look forward to walking some of my seniors across the stage who I started my tenure with when they were freshmen! I feel blessed every day to be at GHS and to have the privilege of investing in students' lives.
Educationally speaking, I have a BA in Music Education, an MA, and in 2018, I earned my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Educational Leadership.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife, Jill, and I have been married 23+ years, and she currently serves as the Music Teacher at Cooper Elementary here at Georgetown ISD. Jill and I have three children: Landyn, who is a freshman at Baylor University, majoring in neuroscience as part of their pre-med program; Rylan, a sophomore at GHS; and Brynlee, who attends Forbes Middle School and is in 7th grade. As a family, we enjoy travelling, hiking, attending and playing soccer matches, and the occasional round of golf (which I pretty much stink at, but it's fun to try). In our spare time, family game nights or movies are just the ticket. Some things you might not know about me include my addiction to documentary films, an affinity for aviation (getting my pilot's license is on my bucket list), and the fact that I'm PADI Advanced SCUBA certified. Teaching is actually my second career--I've been a professional musician my whole adult life. I also basically believe Bigfoot is real, but who knows?!
My "why" is simply to help students see themselves not as they are, but as who they could be, and encouraging them to never settle. I believe each student has so much potential waiting to be explored, and it is a joy to journey with them as they discover who they are called to be.
Speaking of journeys, I believe 2023-24 will be our best year yet! I look forward to walking through it with my students, and our community.
Eagle Fight Never Dies!
