Mr. Justin A. Smith
Mr. Smith is currently in his 20th year as a Texas Music Educator. Mr. Smith is a native of Henderson, Texas and received his BM from the Moore’s School of Music at the University of Houston in 2003.
Mr. Smith previously taught in the Cypress-Fairbanks and Ft. Bend school districts in Houston. Mr. Smith is in his 6th year at Georgetown High School, and during his time, the band has enjoyed great success. The Eagle Marching Band has been a finalist at the Vista Ridge Marching Festival, Texas Marching Classic, US Bands REMO Finale and the UIL Area D Marching Contest. In 2017, the Eagle Band placed 3rd in the UIL Area D Marching Contest and advanced to the UIL 5A State Marching Contest for the first time in 17 years. In 2019, the GHS Wind Symphony was selected as a National Commended Winner in the National Wind Band Honors Project. In 2016 and 2018, the Wind Symphony also advanced to Area in the TMEA Honor Band process. At GHS, Mr. Smith also conducts the Symphonic Band, the Musical Orchestra and the Full Orchestra. Amelie will be Mr. Smith’s 6th musical as conductor, and he would like to thank Ms. Poehls, Mr. Baker, Mrs. Brandenberger, Mr. Lowrance, Ms. Hughston, the Orchestra, the Cast and the Techs for all their hard work in making this show come alive!
Mr. Smith lives in Georgetown with his beautiful wife Jessica and his Charley, and their 5 cats. In his spare time, Mr. Smith enjoys reading and is an avid golfer.
