World History:
World History examines human development from the dawn of civilization to the present day. Students learn about the socioeconomic conditions, political institutions, and ideological attitudes that have marked various time periods throughout history. Using primary and secondary sources, students conduct inquiry-based research to examine historical events, cultural developments, and social and family structures. Students will analyze statistics and data from maps, charts, and graphs to identify trends and patterns throughout history. Students are encouraged to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate the achievements of civilizations in the fields of science, technology, and the arts.
AP World History: In this college-level course, students will study the development and interaction of world cultures throughout history by applying a wide range of factual knowledge as they analyze themes. This course emphasizes history from 1200 CE to the present day. Students may earn college credit by scoring sufficiently on the AP examination administered in the spring. We will be utilizing Google Classroom on a regular basis, please sign up for an account. We will also utilize Remind.com for communication purposes.
Mexica-American Studies:
In Mexican American Studies, students learn about the history and cultural contributions of Mexican Americans. Students will explore history and culture from an interdisciplinary perspective. They will have opportunities to interact with relevant film, literature, art, and other media. The course emphasizes developments in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, but students will also engage with developments prior to the twentieth century.
