ATTENTION:  COURSE VERIFICATION TIME!

BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16th:

For students entering 10th-12th grade next year, please take a moment to review the courses your student has requested for the 2025-2026 school year by logging into Skyward and clicking on the Mailings tab. The 2025-2026 Course Verification Sheet will be posted there for review.

For students entering 10th-12th grade, please also click on the Career Plan tab to review and sign your student’s personal graduation plan.

Instructions for how to access both items are posted on our district website: https://www.georgetownisd.org/parents/skyward-family-student-access/skyward-family-student-access/course-request-verification

After reviewing both the student’s course verification and Career Plan (for students entering 10th-12th grade), parents/guardians can request course changes by going to the link below for the high school campus your student will be attending next year.

25-26 Georgetown High School Verification Course Change Request Form

Please note: If your student receives specialized courses through Special Education (SPED), English as a Second Language (ESL), or any other intervention course, these courses may not be reflected at this moment. Counselors will continue to work to update these courses, as well as specific athletics, fine arts, or elective course placements, as they receive them.

The deadline to submit course request changes for all students is 4p.m., Friday, April 25, 2025.

Nurse’s Notes
District Health Guidelines
COVID-19

If your student has tested positive for COVID, they may return to the classroom when symptoms improve. They must be fever-free 24 hours a day without using fever-reducing medications.

Sickness Exclusion
GISD follows the Texas Department of Health Guidelines for illness-related exclusions from school. A student will be sent home if they have a fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit or above or any other contagious symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, rash, etc.) and will need to remain home until symptom-free for twenty-four (24) hours, without the use of medication. If it is determined that the child should go home, the staff will contact the parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian cannot be reached, a listed emergency contact will be contacted. When it is determined that the student must go home due to a non-emergent illness/injury, it is the expectation that the student be picked up within the hour of parent/guardian/emergency contact being contacted. For our older students able to drive, parent permission must be obtained via email or fax after contact with the campus clinic, before a student is allowed to drive home.

If the doctor prescribes your child antibiotics, he/she must be on the antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.

These guidelines are followed to prevent the spread of illness to other students.

Medications - Please be sure to log into our new SNAP parent health portal and "opt in" to our standing orders. Visit studentehr.com and log in by entering your email address (same email address listed in skyward). You can click "forgot password" if you have not already set up your account.

After logging in, please click "Medications" on the left-hand side and select "opt In" for standing orders listed.

REMINDER: Administration of over-the-counter medications during the school day now REQUIRES a medical provider and parent/guardian signatures.  The form can be found here: https://www.georgetownisd.org/departments/health-services/medical-forms

ACC Application Workshop
HEY SENIORS!  Do you need help with your ACC application? If so, please register for our ACC application help workshop happening on Thursday, April 24th from 12:30-2:30 in the College & Career Center using THIS LINK.

Local Scholarship Applications Open!

Visit the GISD Scholarship Page for local scholarship applications and scholarships outside of Georgetown. Scholarships are a form of financial aid and are gifts of money that do not need to be paid back. Scholarships are offered to students who meet certain requirements, some of which may be need based or merit based. A scholarship might cover the entire cost of your tuition, or it might be a one-time award of a few hundred dollars. Either way, it’s worth applying for, because it will help significantly reduce the cost of your education.

GISD College & Career Events

College & Career presentations are offered for students to connect with college admissions reps and to research their postsecondary options. Click here to register.

TSI Exam

For students needing to meet TSI requirements for college course placement, testing is offered monthly at GHS. Please click here for more information about the TSI and to register for the test. Seniors enrolled in College Prep Math will have an opportunity to take the TSI in December and March during class and do not need to sign up to test prior to those tests.

Attendance Numbers to Remember

CAMPUSES WILL ACCEPT FIVE EXCUSE NOTES FROM PARENTS EACH SEMESTER.
After that time, absences will only be excused with a doctor's note. Attendance notes should be sent to your student's campus registrar any time your student is absent from school.

IN A 6-MONTH PERIOD, STUDENTS MAY ONLY MISS 10 DAYS OFSCHOOL.

State law requires that schools file truancy charges on students or parents after 10, unexcused absences in a 6-month period.

SEVEN, UNEXCUSED ABSENCES = STUDENT ATTENDANCE SUPPORT PLAN
After seven, unexcused absences, campuses will contact parents to develop an Attendance Support Plan to correct and support attendance deficits.

MISSING 10% (JUST TWO DAYS EACH MONTH) CAN DRASTICALLY AFFECT A STUDENT’S ACADEMIC SUCCESS.
Attending school regularly helps your student feel better about school—and themselves. Eventually, good attendance will be a habit that will help your student succeed in high school, college, and the workforce.

STUDENTS MUST ATTEND AT LEAST 90% TO EARN HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS.

Students who drop below a 90% attendance rate are required to complete a plan, designed by the campus principal, in order to be awarded their credit - even if they are passing the class. This is often tutorials, Saturday school, and/or Summer School.
