Georgettes History

The Georgettes were created during the 1973-1974 school year. Marilyn Hampton served as the Director of the Georgetown High School Georgettes and shared her gift for the performing arts with Georgetown students from 1986 until 2004. Georgetown ISD officially dedicated and renamed the Georgetown High School dance studio in memory of Marilyn Hampton Shoemaker on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

Phaedra Walker served as the director from 2008-2012.

Nikki Prosser served as director from 2012-2024.

In 2017, the Sapphires were started as the Junior Varsity Dance Team at GHS.
